Bronchiectasis is a chronic and progressive inflammatory airway disease that can contribute to declining lung function over time.^1-5 Symptom overlap with COPD and asthma may obscure diagnosis, which may lead to delayed diagnosis despite recurrent exacerbations and persistent respiratory symptoms.^1,6 While bronchiectasis can occur as an isolated condition, it often coexists with other airway diseases. Emerging evidence suggests that patients with coexisting bronchiectasis and COPD or asthma face a heightened clinical burden, including increased exacerbation risk, greater symptom severity, and poorer outcomes.^3,7 As awareness of bronchiectasis continues to grow, pulmonologists play a critical role in recognizing potential disease signals, identifying appropriate candidates for imaging, and implementing timely management strategies that may help reduce disease progression and improve patient outcomes.
