Join Sanofi & Regeneron COPD Learning Theater at CHEST 2026

On Monday, October 19, 2026, from 10:15–11:00 a.m. MST in Learning Theater 2, join Drs. Nicola Hanania and Diego Maselli for an engaging 45-minute medical learning theater discussing the impact of exacerbations on chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) progression, while underscoring the importance of outcomes beyond exacerbation reduction. This interactive program will examine recent pooled Phase 3 clinical data from the BOREAS and NOTUS trials for dupilumab and discuss their impact across key patient outcomes, including exacerbations, lung function, symptoms, and quality of life.

While exacerbation reduction remains a critical goal in COPD management, growing evidence highlights the importance of addressing the broader disease burden experienced by patients. Drs. Hanania and Maselli will review the impact of exacerbations on disease progression, including how repeated events can drive precipitous and potentially permanent lung function decline. Faculty will discuss pooled trial data across diverse patient subgroups, including those with emphysema, cardiovascular disease, metabolic disease, and varying smoking status, as well as across a range of baseline blood eosinophil counts.

The learning theater will explore how the clinical impact of COPD extends beyond exacerbations to include persistent respiratory symptoms, impaired lung function, and reduced quality of life. Dupilumab data will be shared across validated symptom and quality-of-life measures, along with novel post hoc analyses related to indirect causal mediation between lung function and symptoms and health-related quality of life. Additionally, the theater will examine blood eosinophil variability over time and the importance of identifying patients with evidence of type 2 inflammation to guide treatment decisions. Finally, faculty will share real-world evidence related to the clinical consequences of delayed transition of care for patients with COPD, including long-term patient outcomes.

Through expert presentations, panel discussion, and audience Q&A, attendees will gain practical insights into the evolving COPD management landscape, the clinical relevance of type 2 inflammation, and the role of dupilumab in helping patients achieve meaningful improvements in their disease beyond exacerbations.
