The next era of pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine is ready to begin, and CHEST 2025 in Chicago will prepare clinicians with the knowledge and skills needed to stay at the forefront of their fields.
CHEST 2025 will commemorate 90 years since the American College of Chest Physicians was founded, the Journal of Diseases of the Chest was first published, and the inaugural meeting was held in Albuquerque, NM, in 1935. That legacy of scientific excellence will serve as the foundation for more than 300 forward-looking educational sessions, taking place October 19 to 22 at the McCormick Place Convention Center.

Chicago will be a fitting backdrop, not only as home to CHEST’s headquarters but also as a dynamic city that is similarly known for its spirit of progress and diverse communities, said CHEST 2025 Scientific Program Committee Chair Sandhya Khurana, MD, FCCP.
“It just feels right to have the 90th anniversary celebration in Chicago,” she said. “Chicago is a melting pot of so many things—a great merging of the past and the future. It’s the city of skyscrapers [and] a hub to big scientific establishments. Science and innovation are synonymous to Chicago, but it also has such a rich history.”
As always, the meeting will showcase expert insights on the latest advances across numerous disease states, including asthma and COPD, interstitial lung disease, pulmonary hypertension, bronchiectasis, lung cancer, sleep medicine, and so much more. Innovative and interactive sessions, honor lectures, and even live podcast recordings will touch on timely topics affecting patient care—like climate and the environment, artificial intelligence, healthy equity, pandemic preparedness, and more.
Learners of all experience levels and clinical specialties will find sessions that address their specific needs—deeper dives that appeal to seasoned physicians, fundamentals that may be helpful for trainees and early career professionals, and presentations that keep in mind the whole care team, including physician assistants/associates, nurse practitioners, and advanced practice respiratory therapists.

“We are dedicated to bringing the top science in our field to our members and to those who attend the annual meeting, and we’re going to do it in multiple formats to accommodate differing learning styles,” said CHEST President John Howington, MD, MBA, FCCP. “I think that’s what excites people about the CHEST meeting. They know when they attend that there’s going to be valuable information to learn, but there’s also the ability to engage with leaders in the field.”
CHEST’s welcoming and approachable culture is unlike anywhere else, Dr. Howington said. New and lasting connections are forged in small moments throughout the meeting, during informal chats in the hallways or while participating in live educational games and other hands-on learning activities. That sense of community grows even stronger during the meeting’s signature events, including the CHEST Challenge Championship—a standby event going on its 16th year—and CHEST After Hours—an expressive storytelling showcase that, after only four years, has become an attendee favorite.
Early bird registration rates are available through July 14. Registrants will want to reserve their spots as soon as possible for limited attendance postgraduate courses and Master Classes, CHEST’s world-class simulation sessions, and more. As a bonus this year, all meeting registrations come with a full year of access to CHEST’s new on-demand educational streaming platform, CHEST MedCast, where users can watch past annual meeting sessions, as well as CHEST 2025 recordings starting in November.
“It’s going to be fantastic. The meeting that we’re putting together is really going to meet and exceed your expectations,” Dr. Khurana said. “Come for the science, come to see your friends and to network, and [come to] explore Chicago.”
