In a CHEST 2024 program already packed with expert insights, Meet the Professor sessions stand out as an unrivaled opportunity to learn from top educators in a small classroom setting.
Seven limited-capacity sessions, capped at 24 registrants each, will allow participants to engage in impactful, face-to-face discussions with leading experts on important chest medicine topics.
Interested attendees can check remaining availability for these ticketed sessions at the Registration Desk in the Level 1 North Lobby of the Boston Convention & Exhibition Center. All sessions will meet in Room 203 of the convention center.

On Tuesday, October 8, at 4 pm ET, Rakesh Shah, MD, FCCP, of North Shore University Hospital, will lead a case-based discussion highlighting points to consider when interpreting single and multiple lung nodules. He is encouraging participants to bring their own cases for discussion as well.
“A lot of the attendees will have some background in interpreting lung nodules,” Dr. Shah said. “This session will be an interactive format where we can ask questions of one another and discuss a wide variety of cases that highlight issues that people may not encounter every day.”
He said the session will be particularly useful for fellows and junior faculty who may not be as familiar with interpreting lung nodules.
The Changing Landscape of Noninvasive Ventilation in 2024

On Wednesday, October 9, at 2:15 pm, Jeanette Brown, MD, PhD, FCCP, of University of Utah Health, will guide participants through new approaches in noninvasive ventilation. Technological improvements and new data underscore the importance of noninvasive ventilation in patients with chronic hypercapnia respiratory failure, she said.
“We used to think that if patients were compensated, they didn’t need additional respiratory support,” Dr. Brown said. “But we now know these patients are at increased risk of dying. By treating the underlying disorders or stabilizing them, we can have a big impact on their quality and quantity of life.”
The Meet the Professor session will include a review of practical tips for using noninvasive ventilation devices.
“Our ability to do things with home devices continues to evolve and improve as they get smaller and more sophisticated,” Dr. Brown said, noting that the session will be particularly useful for those interested in learning how to use noninvasive ventilation devices in real-world scenarios.
